Judul di atas memang agak membingungkan ya? Tapi saya ngga nemu judul yang pas lainnya hehe.. Jadi maksudnya, kalau kita punya domain sendiri, contoh ‘oke.com’, maka kita bisa punya email contoh ’saya@oke.com’ dan untuk login ke email itu biasanya ada aplikasi email seperti squirrel dan lainnya yang kadang tidak familiar atau tampilannya kurang menarik.
Tapi dengan Google Aplications atau disingkat Google Apps, bisa lho kita pake alamat email domain tadi, dan loginnya menggunakan Gmail. Mau tau caranya?
- Buka halaman Google Apps berikut: http://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain/new untuk mulai daftar dan setting email domain kamu.
- Pertama kali ada pilihan Administrator atau End-user. Pilih sesuai kebutuhan, jika kamu ingin buat lebih dari satu akun email, bisa pilih Administrator. Tapi kalau kamu bagian atau member dari satu akun email yg udah dibuat sebelumnya, bisa pilih End-user.
- Tulis domain yang kamu punya di box ‘Enter your domain name’ lalu klik Get Started.
- Langkah berikutnya mengisi form identitas. Bagian ‘Organization Information’ bisa diabaikan untuk tidak diisi. Klik Continue.
- Selanjutnya membuat akun email baru dgn nama sesuai keinginan, lengkapi dengan password lalu klik tombol ‘I accept Continue with set up’
- Verifikasi diperlukan untuk meyakinkan bahwa domain yg didaftarkan adalah benar milik kita. Ada 2 cara, yaitu dgn Upload an HTML file to yourdomain.com atau Change yourdomain.com CNAME record. Cara ke 2 bisa kamu kontak hosting domain untuk setting-nya. CNAME ke Google Apps adalah : ghs.google.com.
- Jika pakai cara pertama lalu klik continue maka selanjutnya kamu harus buat file html dengan cara buka notepad lalu copy-paste kode yang tertera di poin satu, contoh: googleffffffffa174bc1c. Kemudian save file tadi dengan nama googlehostedservice.html. Upload file itu di root directory domain kamu menggunakan cpanel atau FTP.
- Selesai upload, langsung klik I’ve completed the steps above dari jendela Google Apps yang masih aktif. Proses selesai.
- Cek email pertama kali dengan klik ‘Inbox’ di menu kiri atas. Masukan user id dan password lalu login.
- Untuk login berikutnya, urlnya adalah: http://mail.google.com/a/yourdomain.com/ (yourdomain.com diganti dgn domain sendiri).
